The 5 Stages Of Catnip
Tweet |
It all starts with a little innocent experimentation, and the next thing you know, you’ve got a burnt-out nip-head in your house. Get the facts before you find your cat trying to sell you on eBay to fund his catnip habit!
And what, exactly are the facts? Well, they’re not all that alarming, really. Catnip (nepeta cataria) is a member of the mint family. It contains a substance called nepetalactone, and when these molecules enter the cat’s nose, they then trigger the behaviours you see in this video.
Here’s the catch: about 33% of cats are immune to the effects of catnip, having no reaction to it whatever. The other 66% will roll around in the stuff like gleeful idiots.
Whether you would like to adopt a cat who can kick back and chill once in a while or one who gives intoxicants a miss, you’ll find plenty of both sorts, all looking for great homes, on http://PetFinder.my.
