Hi Dr. Chan,
It was nice meeting you in person last Sunday at the Pet Expo. I am sure everything went well for myanimalcare.org booth. I am writing again to ask for your help to share the information about a rescued kitten I helped on 26th June.
My house mate found Boy Boy while having an evening walk on 25th June. He responded to her call and was very affectionate. He was found with an injured back leg with sign of bleeding. We could hardly clean his wound as he would cry when we touch a bit of it. With past rescue experience which was tough, I convinced myself that I would not rescue again if I am sure it is beyond my capability.
However, in the evening of 26th June right after work, I decided to take Boy Boy to the vet, even when I knew that it is uncertain how much I might possibly help. Vet said that Boy Boy is about 3 months old. The vet examined his swollen leg. Then she used a needle to open a hole in order to remove pus from the leg. He was crying in pain so I asked vet to please tie a bandage to avoid him from licking the ointment. He was also dewormed and sprayed with Frontline anti-flea product. Then I was advised to put him on antibiotics and ointment for leg for 7 days. Vet also advised that we untie his bandage after 24 hours.
In the evening of 27th June, I untied his bandage and the swell was gone! It was still quite tough to apply ointment on his leg as he would resist. On day 4, 29th June, he is obviously making progress being very actively running around also not so resistant when I applied ointment. But I am getting concerned because my house mates only agreed that we take care of him until he is recovered. Given his affectionate personality and friendliness to human, we really hope he can get a forever loving home. The last thing I want to do is to let him out straying again.
I have put up ads for adoption in Petfinder: http://www.petfinder.my/pets/69999/
But I don’t have much time to keep him because of other house mates’ concern and also because we don’t have room to quarantine Boy Boy (not vaccinated yet as he is having antibiotics) from our Mimi cat. Meantime, another person is looking after Mimi while we care for Boy Boy but can do so only until 1st or 2nd July.
I hope Boy Boy can get an adopter. Again, he is a loving boy that enjoys so much human affection and company.
Please see some of Boy Boy’s photos.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Wong Li Ngar Lina
