The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has recently named animal cruelty as a �top-tier crime� in the US. Prosecution for animal cruelty, in the US, will be given more priority and those convicted will face harsher sentencing. Just last month, a California man was jailed for a year and ordered to undergo anger management counseling, for beating his pet poodle to death. He was also put on �four years’ probation and barred from owning, living with or caring for any animal for 10 years”. In Singapore, cruelty to animals is a crime. Any offender convicted of cruelty to animals, can be fined up to $15,000 or jailed for up to 18 months, or both, under the revised Animals and Birds Act. Call SPCA�s 24-hour hotline 62875355 ext. 9 immediately, if you witness an act of animal cruelty.
