“These babies were found by our maintenance crew during tornado cleanup,” Byron Forest Preserve reported last week after an F-4 twister tore through Ogle County, Oregon. “Since so many trees were destroyed, we’re assuming their parents are gone and they haven’t had any nourishment in awhile. Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab will be picking them up today to nurse them back to health.”
A new update by the Byron Forest Preserve reveals that the owlets are doing very well.
“They have eaten lots of mice and are now re-hydrated and getting stronger. We hope that when the owlets are ready for release, we can place them back into the Skare Park area in Rochelle.”
So happy to hear the the little ones are going to be OK and thankful for the clean up team who noticed them and took quick action to save their lives.
