With Christmas less than a week away, lets help find our present members of the SPCA canine family their very own forever families!
We’ll be spotlighting one special shelter dog every day until Christmas Day.
Next up is:
SPCA Special 9 MAJOR (Cross-German Shepherd)
Meet Major. His story is a heart-wrenching one, so prepare your tissue paper. Major is a cross-German Shepherd, and was found abandoned at a cemetery in Lim Chu Kang, with maggot wounds on his back. This big boy was very obviously pre-loved – he was used to wearing a basket muzzle on walks (as stipulated by law) and knew basic commands like ‘sit’ and ‘paw’. To top it off, he can even catch treats (if you throw it right!).
Major loves a good scratch from his human – possibly something he got on a regular basis during his younger days. Playing a game of fetch is another favorite pastime of his, except that sometimes he comes trotting back looking all proud and satisfied but without the ball. But we’re working on it!
This intelligent boy has found it difficult to get back into the loving arms of a family. Part of the reason could be his age (he’s almost 10-year-wise!) and the mandatory insurance requirements for his breed. And that really breaks our hearts, because we know that Major deserves more than a life behind a fence.
So, let’s help Major get to the other side, and into the warmth of a loving home and hearts!
