Life can be hard when you live on the streets. There is no warm bed at night; no human to love and care for you. My name is Cheaka and I have lived like this for 8 years.

I arrived at the Soi Dog shelter with very old injuries; I can no longer remember how I got them. I was covered in bite wounds and had an old fracture in my left back leg. I am having trouble putting any weight on this leg.

The vets have also diagnosed me with kidney problems and blood parasites. I guess my lonely life on the streets has finally caught up with me.

Despite all I have been through and the illnesses and injuries I am battling, I am one of the lucky street dogs. Thanks to some special Soi Dog supporters, my medical treatment is being funded. These supporters are called the Emergency Response Team.
