Cat just rescued from the ledge, of the top floor of an HDB block in Ang Mo Kio
Earlier tonight (Sep 18, 2014), we were alerted to a cat seen perched on the 12th floor ledge of a residential block in Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. The cat was suspected to be distressed, as related to us by our informers.
Our rescue officer was quickly despatched to the scene, and found the local grey-black feline, nestled on that narrow ledge reportedly for some time already. The cat indeed appeared distressed, and care had to be taken not to alarm it into possibly leaping off the ledge.
Rescuing the cat from its precarious perch, thus, entailed our rescuers strategy of wielding a catchpole, surreptitiously, from behind the cat. The moment came when, while it was being distracted, the catchpole’s noose was quickly positioned over its head and tightened, in a well-timed manoeuvre. The cat was then swiftly hauled from the ledge inwards, onto the floor.
The cat didnt sport a collar, and is strongly suspected to be a community cat. It was found to be alright and unharmed, and released from the carrier once taken to the ground floor.
We thank our informer, Ms Lee, for alerting us to the cats distressed state.
Members of the public can, likewise, help us to help any injured, sick and/or distressed animal, by calling our 24-hour emergency hotline at 62875355 extension 9, and clear emergency cases would be given priority.
