WOMAN GOES BACK TO PROTECT SKUNK CROSSING ROAD

Liz Bedard of Massachusetts was on her way home from a shopping trip and a very long day at work when she came across a skunk crossing the road slowly, and her intuition guided her to turn back and help:

“As I am driving down the hill, I notice a skunk on the grassy embankment start to make his way toward the street,” Liz said. “I drive past and get an overwhelming feeling of dread for him so I turned my car around and headed back in his direction. As I am heading back up an SUV is heading down and I see Mr. Skunk in its direct path. I start flashing my lights at the SUV in hopes alerting him or her to slow to which they don’t. I finally blare my horn and Mr Skunk finally scoots away and is narrowly missed by the oncoming car. He was literally just standing there until I blared the horn.”

“Out of sight was not out of my mind,” Liz said, buy this time she felt compelled to do more than keep on driving. “I’m glad I took the extra few minutes to ensure his safety and my piece of mind. Skunks are so low to the ground and are easily overlooked by fast oncoming vehicles. I’m sure the other driver thought I was nuts, but oh well.”
