MARATHON BOMBING SURVIVOR BOOTED OUT OF STORE FOR SERVICE DOG WHO WOULDN’T FIT IN SHOPPING CART
Nineteen year old Sydney Corcoran who sustained shrapnel wounds and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder following the Boston Marathon bombing, was forced to leave a New Hampshire TJ Maxx because she couldn’t put her service dog Koda inside her shopping cart.
During an interview with NewsCenter 5, Sydney said a store manager approached her and said, “If you want to keep your dog in the store, you have to put him in the carriage.”
Sydney tried to calmly explain the purpose of her service dog and that he wouldn’t fit in the cart, but her appeal was rejected and she had to leave the store.
Sydney’s mother Celeste who lost both her legs in the bombing came straight down to the store and confronted the manager for violating her daughter’s rights.
The store has since apologized for the manager’s misinterpretation of store policy. (photo from WCVB newscast)
