Sometimes the greatest thing a struggling animal shelter needs is a leader. Recently the Santuhalm Shelter in Romania found exactly that in the form of a woman named Elena Gabriela. When Elena first learned about the shelter, the living conditions for the dogs were pitiful.
“Dogs were fed twice a week with stinky chicken meat and bread and panification donations,” Elena explains. “There were medicines expired for years, dogs with tumors, dogs sick. It was very hard times and still is.”
“I try to have food for them, asking and asking for help,” Elena continues.”To have enough food we need 200 kg/days, that means around 90 euros a day! ($122) And also we need money for medical care, at least 500 euro/month ($680), so we can pay for veterinary checks and any surgeries needed and medicines.”
There’s still a long way to go here in Santuhalm, but conditions are beginning to improve.
Harmony Fund is now assisting this struggling shelter in making their way to providing better care for the animals and we are indeed grateful for all of you who help make that possible.
