I am a beautiful 2 year old girl and I would like to tell you my story. Born on the streets of Phuket, Thailand, I have never known any other home. I don’t know what it’s like to have a human owner to care for me; I have never had anyone but myself. My name is Elegant.
There are many dogs like me, all trying to fight for survival. Each day is spent scavenging for food wherever we can find it; each night is spent trying to find a safe place to sleep. It all went wrong for me the day I was attacked by another dog and got seriously hurt.
I was left with a big open wound on my back and I was in agony. I cried a lot but I had no owner to help me. I was all alone and frightened. What if I was attacked again?
I saw a truck pull up in front of me and a man jumped out and approached me. I couldn’t stop shaking; I was so scared this man was going to hurt me too. Instead, the man picked me up and told me I would be okay. He put me in the back of his truck and took me to Soi Dog. He is an Animal Rescue Officer and his name is Khun Sanae.
Since being here, I have had my horrible wound cleaned and treated every day and the vets hope I will make a full recovery. They tell me I need to thank a special group called the Emergency Response Team. They are Soi Dog supporters, whose monthly donations meant I could be picked up off the street and helped. Without them, my wound would have got worse, become seriously infected, and I might have died from septicaemia.
I am still thinking about the other street dogs that need help and hoping every day that more people will join the Emergency Response Team so they too can be helped. After you’ve read my story, please ask yourself if YOU can join the team. No donation amount is too small; every penny will help. All you have to do is click on my picture to get started.
By joining the Emergency Response Team, you are making sure that suffering street dogs and cats get the life-saving treatment they so urgently need.
