Sweet Rinko: Making Progress After So Much Pain

I am a young girl named Rinko and, thanks to Soi Dog, I am learning to walk again. If you havent met me yet, you can read how my story started here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.692448367463568.1073742814.108625789179165&type=1

I came to the shelter after a staff members friend called Soi Dog. Shed seen me at a beach in Phuket and noticed that I was having problems with my back legs and seemed to be in extreme pain. I am so glad that lady saw me because I really couldnt stand or walk properly; it hurt so much. A man called Khun Jaroon arrived and picked me up. He is an Animal Rescue Officer with Soi Dog and he told me not to worry; he was going to take me somewhere where I would be taken care of.

At the shelter, the vets took a look at my legs and saw that I had some bad wounds on my back paws. They cleaned out my wounds and gave me some medicine called antibiotics, so I wouldnt get any infection. Then they did something called an x-ray and that showed them that I had some old fractures in my legs. I had problems with the nerves in my paws and the vets said this would mean I would never be able to walk or stand like a normal dog.

This made me sad but the vets told me they could help me. They made me some special cast shoes so that I could stand up and walk without feeling any pain. Since they fitted me with those special shoes, life gets a little bit better every day. They help me to practice standing and walking and I am getting very good at it, as you will see from the pictures.

I really want to thank the Emergency Response Team because I heard that without them, I wouldnt be here. They are a group of very special people whose support means Soi Dog can continue to help animals like me.
