Cooper Needs To Lose His Leg To Regain Mobility

Hi, Im Cooper. If you dont remember me or you havent heard my story yet, you can read how it started here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.678595915515480.1073742729.108625789179165&type=1

I arrived at Soi Dog after being hit by a car and picked up by animal rescue officer Khun Jaroon. The accident had fractured my leg quite badly and I had to have a cast fitted, which I really didnt like, but the vets told me it would help me. I also had wounds on my hips, I was losing my hair and after examining me a bit more, the vets said I had a fungal infection. This was making me itch a lot but the vets needed to wait to treat it. They didnt want to give me too much medicine at once as I was already on antibiotics and painkillers.

The vets made sure I got plenty of rest so that my leg had the best chance of healing. Then my fungal infection got treated and I was so happy when the itching stopped. When Dr Sai changes my cast, I try to use my leg while its off, but I am having problems. The vets now think that they might have to do something called an amputation. This means they will remove my bad leg so that I can run around properly using my three good legs. Even though I am a little bit scared, they have told me that they will make sure I am very asleep before they do this and that I will feel nothing. Best of all, I know that once its over, I will be able to live like a normal dog again.

Things could have ended very badly for me were it not for the Emergency Response Team. I know that every day, all over Phuket, other dogs have accidents or get sick and many of them dont have anyone to care for them. That is why I would like to ask you to be there for them by joining the Emergency Response Team today. Please visit https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html
