Here’s a request from Leona Liman. Her friend, Cynthia, has consented to this sharing too.

Dear Kah Yein,
I’m wondering if you would be willing to share on your blog a beautiful piece that my friend Cynthia Chin wrote yesterday.
You see, when Cynthia and I were working together years ago in Kuching for a wildlife NGO, our boss fostered a lost male Rottweiler from SSPCA. He christened the dog Obi-Wan because he’s a gentle, loving giant.
A lot of people say Rottweilers are very aggressive dogs, but for as long as I have been fortunate to know Obi, he was never ever unkind to any human nor four-legged friends. He was loved by everyone in the office, and we used to sneak out to the front door to feed him treats during office hours. When our boss couldn’t adopt him, Cynthia kindly offered to take him in.
We lost Obi yesterday due chronic liver failure. He had been ill for about a month. I guess as a coping mechanism, Cynthia wrote this blog post about him: http://cynfulwords.blogspot.com/2014/03/obi-and-his-rainbow-bridge.html
When I saw the term “rainbow bridge” in her post, it reminded me of you and your blog. I hope that by sharing Cynthia’s post, perhaps your readers can see how adopting a stray/lost animal from the shelter can make so much difference both to the animal and the person.
I also know it would mean so much to Cynthia if we could honour Obi’s memory amongst fellow animal-loving friends.
I hope you can kindly consider my humble request. Thanks and have a good day ahead.
Leona Liman
