UPDATE ON DOG RESCUED YESTERDAY

Many people have requested an update on the dog who was picked up yesterday near the Heroines Monument. Owing to the location he was found we have named him Hero. Hero has been given emergency treatment and is now a wait and see situation. His legs were so badly swollen that it was even difficult to get a blood sample, the analysis indicates septicemia and he is receiving antibiotics to fight it, but he is extremely sick. Many of the wounds were infested with maggots. On the positive side he is a young dog (no more than 2 years old) and today ate very well. He polished off an entire tin of dog food when having blood drawn!

Many people have asked about sponsoring Hero. It would be inappropriate to offer him for sponsorship until we know he is going to survive. Do be aware though that it is our sponsorship programme that provides the funding to enable us to help dogs like Hero. We only feature a few of the dogs that come in every week and only featured Hero because he was a good illustration of how many Thai people do care about these dogs. I counted 26 dogs this morning including Hero in our overcrowded intensive care area and there are over 100 dogs and cats currently receiving treatment.

It is through our sponsorship programme that we can help these animals and we thank all our sponsors for enabling us to do so.
