Kathina Fundraising For The Street Animals

The crowd was unusually thin this Kathina at the SJBA. It’s puzzling…could it have something to do with the budget or the inflation?
In any case, though the crowd was thin, fundraising was not bad.
It rained heavily on Kathina Eve, but the rains soon stopped, so we were able to set up our booth.
On Kathina Day, many devotees came in our tshirts. It’s really heartwarming to see this.
And little children took the books.
There were many repeat buyers for the soap and toothpaste, but especially for the soap. Am really glad we are able to promote something useful to everyone (soap) at an affordable price (only RM5) and the users are aware that it is a product which is not tested on animals. More heartwarming is when they come back and buy more saying the product is good, affordable and they know why they are using it (it’s cruelty-free). Mission accomplished – we will continue promoting the soap. After all, who doesn’t use soap? And when asked “What can this soap be used for?”, Connie and I will say, “To wash from head to toe”, because we both use it for the hair, face and body (it’s a whole body soap and you’ll never have to buy shampoo or throw away plastic bottles again). And “Is it drying?”. Well, not for us, but it’s only RM5, so why don’t you buy one and try it first to see if it’s suitable for your skin?
And it’s not just the women buying, but also the men for the family. That’s really nice.
Discussing the stories in the books.
We had a young helper, Zoey, who helped record the sales. Thank you, Zoey.
The top-selling tshirt today is the Army Green “Go Meatless Once a Week”! We anticipated a small crowd and did not bring enough stock. Luckily my husband and son were able to replenish stock for us.
Many thanks to all supporters from the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association for their generosity in helping the animals!
