Awareness of the illegal dog meat trade within Vietnam

Thanks to VTV Vietnam TV of attending the first Asia Canine Protection Alliance (ACPA) symposium held in late August of 2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Awareness is growing within Vietnam as regards the animal welfare issues surrounding the trade as well as the trades implications on human health.

The news report was shown on VTV Channel 1 twice, on the evening news 23 August, and rebroadcast in the morning news the next day.

Although in Vietnamese the broadcast clearly articulates the outcome from the meetings including the agreement of the delegates from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia to push forward with a 5 year moratorium on the import of dog meat into Vietnam.
