Burriram Shelter Update...

Burriram Shelter Update

Please donate today to help build urgently needed shelters for dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade. Your donation will be doubled by clicking here: https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/08-04-2013-appeal/

Many thanks to our friends at GreaterGood for their generous matching donation for the care of the rescued dogs! The $20,000 pledge by GreaterGood to match donations has been met! This will enable us to start building a 4th new shelter. The good news does not stop there though… We heard this week that GreaterGood will match another $16,000 which would see us well on the way to completing another shelter and a generous Soi Dog supporter has advised us they will donate the costs for an entire shelter! More shelters are urgently needed and GreaterGood, seeing the need has increased their matching funds by an additional $16,000! BUT, only the first $16,000 will be matched so please donate as generously as you can today so the challenge can be met and to make sure your donation is doubled!

Dogs have been arriving from the overcrowded Nakhon Phanom shelter to Burriram where the new shelters are being constructed. The dogs have considerably more room at Burriram and dogs can be better segregated there.

Soi Dog staff have begun treating the rescued dogs at Burriram. The team is focusing work on sterilization, vaccinating and tick prevention as well as also treating the dogs and segregating dogs with skin (mange) problems as well as segregating the week and vulnerable dogs so they can receive proper nutrition at feeding times. Through the Magic 1000 Club additional food has also been delivered.

There are over 940 dogs at Burriram at present, most already sterilized. 132 additional dogs have been sterilized thus far during this clinic and work will continue on sterilizing the entire population.
