Dr. Bo, resident vet at the Nakhon Phanom shelter, Dr. Lek and DLD staff are seen here treating dogs rescued from smugglers last week and currently held at the Nakhon Phanom shelter in NE Thailand.
While Nakhon Phanom will continue to act as an initial receiving area for rescued dogs due to its proximity to smuggling routes additional shelters are being built at the DLD facility in Burriram about 4 hours outside of Bangkok. It makes sense to consolidate rescued dogs at Burriram so as to make best use of limited resources.
Soi Dog is building purpose made shelters at Burriram to house the rescued dogs. Each shelter is costing around $40,000 and 10 shelters are planned. 2 have been built and a 3rd is well underway.
Some great news! Our friends at GreaterGood will match your donation towards building these shelters meaning that your donation is doubled!
But… only the first $20,000 donated will be matched so please donate today to be sure that your donation is doubled. You can help the rescued dogs by donating to the Burriram Shelter Appeal at: https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/08-04-2013-appeal/
