FUND RAISING FOR HARDCORE BREAST CANCER PATIENT – ONG LAI

This is Ong Lai. She is around 2 years old and diagnosed with breast cancer. Her owner is an irresponsible person who will tie her 24/7 at the five foot way outside the coffee shop. As Ong Lai was not spayed, she ended up giving birth one time after another. Her 1st litter consists of 10 puppies that was taken away from her to be dumped elsewhere.

Recently again, she gave birth to 6 puppies but unfortunately 5 were killed in road accidents and only 1 survived. Our rescuer came by and got to know about Ong Lai�s history and decided to help spay Ong Lai and save the remaining of her puppy. Ong Lai was taken to the vet clinic, where it was then she was found to have breast cancer.

The surgery involved is extremely complicated and Ong Lai�s case is rather serious as can be seen in the photos, her tits are drooping quite badly.

The surgery was conducted yesterday and it took approximately 2.5 hours just to remove one side of her affected tits. And based on last night�s situation, instead of removing all her affected tits at on shot, the vet decided to put the other side on hold after taking into consideration the condition of the dog at that time. Proceeding with the surgery may cause the dog�s life at stake. We take the professional advice from vet seriously and the life of the dog is our topmost priority.

Our rescuer have a discussion with the vet today and judging from the situation, vet will cared and monitor the dog�s condition until she is strong enough to undergo another surgery. At the meantime, Ong Lai needs daily cleansing of her wound and medication to prevent any form of infection.

Due to the complexity of the case, Ong Lai�s bill is going to cause us a BOMB. We truly need Public�s support to help raise fund for her case as the surgeries and post-surgery cost involved is estimated at RM4.5k. The SPCA Seberang Perai is a society registered in September 2005. Our primary aim is to reduce the population of stray animals or possibly a zero stray population in a humane manner. With lesser strays or no strays at all, the loving value of animals will be greatly increased and you can be sure that humans will shower more love for their pets and be responsible pet owners. The problem should not only be shouldered by our Society as the public must also understand the urgent need to control the pet population and give their whole-hearted support to all our projects for the undertaking to be successful. Then we will achieve a clean and hygienic environment for the community. As a no killing organization, we are embarking on a two-prong approach towards the problem i.e public education and sterilization of the stray animals.
