Contrary to what most people think, rabbits are not necessarily great pets for children. Due to their sensitive nature and timidness, rabbits need to be handled with utmost care and gentleness. The backbone of a rabbit is very fragile and can break easily when handled improperly or dropped on its back. This, coupled with the fact that rabbits can literally be scared to death when feeling threatened, makes rabbits unsuitable pets for children. If you do get a rabbit however, do make sure you teach your children to be gentle around your rabbit, and always supervise the interaction between them. Please do not get a rabbit just because its the holidays, and definitely not as a gift. Remember that when you bring home a rabbit, youre also making a ten-year commitment to your new best friend!
On that note, enjoy the Easter holiday!
