Another Thumbs-Up For Home-Cooked Food

Here’s another happy owner who has seen the results of giving home-cooked food to her cats.
From Lynn Yap:
Dear Dr. Chan,
I am writing to thank you for introducing and encouraging owners to cook for their pets. Here is my experience with home cooked pet food so that you can tell more people to do so.
Our old cat Misty is nearly 12 years old in human years. We used to feed her kibbles and she was losing weight and hair despite eating a lot. We didn’t know what to do and thought it was due to old age. After reading and seeing how healthy and beautiful the cats were on your blog with home cooked food, we decided to give it a try. I steamed the antibiotic free chicken, carrot and celery and then blended them with ground dried eggshell as instructed. Misty took to it immediately and gave us hope. She ate it exclusively for about two weeks when we noticed a change in her.
Her weight increased and her hair grew thicker! I combed her and the comb had to be de-fuzzed three times due to the amount of hair that was stuck. We were sold with the idea and have been feeding Misty and our newly rescued cat, Sophie, with only home cooked food. Misty is well and happy, with thick hair and less smelly breath, and her poop is very little and well formed, a sign of good absorption of nutrients. I realized how much fillers and preservatives there are in kibbles sold outside.
Thank you for introducing home cooking for pets to us and to others, I have also been telling friends and strangers with pets to do so. Please keep up your noble mission for the furry friends!
Warm regards,
Lynn YapBelow are some shots of Misty and Sophie. You can see Misty chomping her food here but Sophie had finished hers earlier, so she just posed for me. Misty’s hair used to be very sparse and thin but you can see how much hair she has now, thanks to home cooked food. I wish I had taken pictures of her months ago, you would have noticed a huge difference.Thank you for helping pet owners by spreading the benefits of home cooked food!
