Death And Disarray At Americas Racetracks
Tweet |
Thousands of horses die each year at the racetrack during training or racing, owing to the selfish desire of mankind to profit handsomely from the races and branding it as a sport.
Horses that injure or break their legs, often due to bad track conditions, are shot down on the spot because they can no longer race. Others run themselves to death after being given illegal doses of steroids.

The new economics of horse racing are making an always-dangerous game even more so, as lax oversight puts animal and rider at risk.Source: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/25/us/death-and-disarray-at-americas-racetracks.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all
