Terry took Tinsel to his new home this evening. We would like to convey our deepest appreciation and gratitude to DT for agreeing to give Tinsel a forever home. No more will he wander from home to home again now, after being in 5 different homes in the last 3 years. I’m personally so relieved and happy for Tinsel.
Thank you very much, DT.
From Terry:
Hi Kah Yein,
I rushed home from work in the slight drizzle and barged into the house. My dogs were waiting to greet me, but they will have to wait. Today, Tinsel will finally find his new home.
I quickly changed into something more comfortable and went down to get his carrier. Then I opened up his cage and gave him a few minutes to make his final inspection of the house he called home for the past 2-3 weeks. When he was done making his rounds, I called out to him and he obediently came towards me. I nudged him towards the carrier and he went inside willingly. He knew.
A long but pleasant drive in the pouring rain (during which I had a most enlightening chat with Tinsel on life and beyond) brought me to the gates of DT’s house. I brought Tinsel inside to meet her.
She let him out for a while and he seemed calm, taking in the new environment. Soon, he was sniffing around and detected the scent of other cats. That made him very nervous. He went to a corner and hid there, refusing to come out even when we tried to bribe him with food.
Eventually we managed to corner him and as he was trying to give us the slip, I managed to pin him down and together we got him back into the carrier. He will be caged for the next few days for him to calm down and familiarize himself with his new surroundings.
That was the last I saw of him, though I’m sure in the future we’ll meet again, somehow.
I took another long but pleasant drive home, pondering over the various connections I’ve had with animals, the ones I’ve fostered, adopted, rescued, loved and held in my arms as they pass on.
When I got home I went to clean out Tinsel’s litter box. All that’s left is an empty cage. But my heart is far from empty, knowing that Tinsel has finally found a home.”
Regards,
Terry
