Act Now To Save Lives Of Florida Dogs
Tweet |
Heres the issue: Thousands of pit-bull-type dogs have been killed in Miami-Dade County, Florida. They have been killed or banished because of the way they look, not because of the way they behave, and hundreds more are being killed every year.
Currently a bill, HB 997, is in motion at the state level to correct this injustice, but the Miami-Dade county commissioners, the same folks who put the breed ban in place, are trying to stall HB 997 by putting the breed ban on the ballot and trying to make the killing of innocent dogs into a home rule issue, which it is not.
Miami-Dade is the only county in Florida to discriminate against pit-bull-type dogs. Please contact the county commissioners today and remind them that Miami will never become a no-kill community if they continue to kill puppies and dogs simply because of their appearance. This policy and the proposed ballot initiative are a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Marlins pitcher Mark Burehle was not able to take up residence in Miami-Dade County, despite playing for the Miami-based team, because of the appearance of his dog. His short video says it all.
Act now and save lives. The budget subcommittee meeting is tomorrow morning, and the Miami-Dade county commissioners are lobbying to kill the bill.
