Hello Pet Lovers All Over The World

Ralph the wombat

I welcome everyone to my website from all corners of the world.

I send out a special tribute to pet lovers of all walks of life be it a vet, a vet nurse, a pet owner, a farmer, a nature lover or simply an animal admirer.

I will be putting up heaps of pictures and videos and taking everyone on a journey into my life as a vet!

I personally feel that a vet’s life particularly at a mixed practice can simply never be boring or routine!

I can be examining a cat one minute, resuscitating a dog in the next, and booked to treat a horse in half an hour’s time. I return after my horse call and there you have it, I have chook with diarrhoea booked in followed with a few puppy and rabbit vaccinations and oh that last consult looks like a goat with bloat. It goes without saying that a great range of veterinary medical books or access to internet are paramount in a mixed practice. No sane person can retain all the medical information required to treat all the different animal species!

I really never know how my day is trully going to span out. That can honestly drive me bonkers on some days especially when I have had little sleep because of heaps of afterhours call outs the night before. Oh and yes we work day and night shifts all in one hit!

The most important part of my job is the fact that I am so passionate about it and can not imagine doing anything else with my life. My dedication and persistence buffer me against all the fluctuating adrenaline spikes that come with the job.

To make matters even more spicy, vets are not trained to deal with people and we have to deal with people everyday. Pets don’t just check themselves in for a consult. I sometimes really wonder why we have not been given any training in human psychology as it could have made our jobs much easier.

Bottom line, if any of my above discussion interests you then you must tune in to my website regularly because I am going to do my best to share my daily thoughts and experiences with  you.

Rayya The Vet

I was born overseas and grew up in Lebanon. About 9 years ago, I left my family and friends behind to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian in Australia.

I have now been out in practice for the past 5 years. I absolutely love being involved with all types of animals and consider it my "calling". Whilst my job can be quite an emotional rollercoaster ride, I cannot fathom doing anything else for as long as I am living. I simply feel blessed every day that I am practicing what I truly love.
