Scratchy had a very difficult kittenhood. When he was rescued, he was a tiny kitten, skin and bones, and someone had thrown boiling water on him. Scratchy had given up on life and would just lie down and stare at the wall for hours. These days however, Scratchy is a fat and happy boy. He loves to eat, and must check the food bowl every single time he goes into the kitchen. Scratchy gets along with most cats, unless they are aggressive or play roughly with him. If this happens too many times, he will hold a grudge and will get very scared and angry when the other cat even walks past him. He's a sweet and affectionate boy most of the time, and he loves having his head scratched, but he gets a little confused when you pet his body.
Scratchy is a bit of a special boy. The skin on his neck (where the boiling water hit him) will never grow back, and it causes him to sometimes scratch that area until he bleeds. I also suspect that due to his trauma as a kitten, he may have some psychological/neurological damage, giving his character a few odd quirks. He does not like to be picked up, and will start growling at you if you hold him for too long. He will forgive you immediately though, and make baby noises at you for attention right after. He does not respond well to having his claws trimmed. He does not like other cats jumping up into his face and will growl and hiss at them very aggressively when this happens. Scratchy needs a home with a lot of patience and a lot of love to give, and preferably not too many cats, one or two should still be ok, but they need to give him his space. If you are familiar with dealing with temperamental cats and you have the patience and love to deal with Scratchy, you will fall in love with him and his silly, sweet, crazy, cute ways.
