Captain Scoots was a tiny baby brought to us with paralyzed hind legs. He was only about 12 weeks old, but according to his original feeder, his legs had been like that for at least 6 weeks. While Scooty's legs are quite strong and not too atrophied, his legs will not recover. But it's okay because he has no problems scooting around! He has limited control over his bladder and has to be in a diaper (as his scooting around will stimulate urine) and his bladder needs manual expressing every 3-4 hours, and he sleeps in a shower stall at night with picnic mats with his diaper on.
Despite this rough beginning, Captain Scoots is the happiest little kitten you'll ever meet! He LOVES to eat and he absolutely adores chasing and playing with the big cats. He scoots and he scoots FAST. He has no issues with mobility whatsoever, and will climb vertically up cat scratching poles, spin around, "run", wrestle, everything. The only thing he can't do is jump, but he doesn't seem to mind at all.
Scooty is very affectionate and an easy purrer. He loves to be in your arms, bake biscuits in his favorite donut bed, and chase after feather toys. He'll even dribble around little puff balls. He's perfectly imperfect! He also gets along great with other cats, and is a protector and big brother to Dory, his mini-me who also needs to wear a diaper (see photos below).
He's been dewormed and fully vaccinated, and neutered. He's tried acupuncture and intensive physiotherapy and laser therapy, but unfortunately did not yield the results we were hoping for.
He will need diapers, towels or a picnic mat (for overnight), but does not require any special diet. At the moment, he's on 100% raw. His care is surprisingly easy once you get yourself in a routine, and will be easier once you have family members/flat mates also on board with his routine. But he will return all that love tenfold, as he unconditionally loves everyone he meets.
If you're interested, we will walk you through all of his routine and guide you through the first few weeks.
We do have a short application process. We also insist that all cats adopted from us be indoor cats and spayed/neutered when old enough.
