Hai Ling is VERY special. We named her " Serene Creature of the Sea ". She is half- Dobernman, had at least 3 litters & was shipped to Pulau Silat Kering & dumped there with over 300 others.

She is a survivor & " strong ".Infact,she was infested with 2nd stage of heartworms disease' There is no food ontop of many other dogs cramped in a mangrove swamp with no land & subjected to periodic tides constantly.Her actual home is 45 minutes boat ride away. Ketam & its surrounding islands ( Mangrove mounds to be exact ) lie on a widespread mudflat. These dogs are super dogs. They know how to accommodate the tides, swim & serach for food where there are supplies ( Discarded stuffs from upstairs ).

Hai Ling swam back with 7 other dogs to Pilau Tengah where they awaited for lower tide before they swim back to Ketam Island. A Ketam fisherman spotted Hai Ling & decided to save her & brought her back to Ketam.

Ketam weighs about 28 kgs now but she is a gentle giant & harms no one. she is jealous of other young attractive bitches though.Everyone fell in love with her at first sight.

She is staying with us for she has a mission... Ketam dogs were misunderstood.They are not aggressor but victimised when they merely try to survive daily.Irresponsible owners & the villagers ' mindset doomed these creatures which are special & marvelous if they care to observe & manage by nipping unnecessary births. .
