She was from a litter of 3 kittens. The mother cat belongs to our neighbor's.
One day when we drive our car out for lunch, stopped by traffic light on a busy road, we heard meows from under the car.
Apparently all 3 kittens are right inside the car engine. One drop out on the road (which we did not know until someone told us). Another one dropped out at the traffic light, which was taken away by a kind motorcyclist.
We stopped our car on the side of the road to check if there's anymore kittens under, and yes, there's one more. That happens to be Maru, who is now under our care.
We did return Maru to the mother, but Maru still plays inside the car engine. So for her safety, we have to separate Maru and her mother and bring her into our house. We later found out from our neighbor that the mother is actually a stray cat but they do feed her everyday.
