3moor   Oct 12th 2009 at 10:48AM Griffith, yo is a lil too big for a condo/apart , she needs to move around. a landed property will be ideal as she a med size dog n as for toilet train, she does it in the garden or during walks. Lilsaint, yo is able to adapt to ppl, she has no problem in tht but i believe u've jst adopted a pup yday, will u b able to manage another one?

Sashy   Oct 13th 2009 at 10:15PM Dog smell can be pretty subjective. All dogs will have a slight doggy smell to an extent, some more, some less. If you are the type of person who is very sensitive to smell, please think carefully before getting a dog as they cant be bathed frequently (usually once a week is enough)

Eileen08   Oct 15th 2009 at 3:11PM That's a silly question doglover24. Dog smells because you dont bathe it or feed it poor quality food. If u are worried abt dog smell, then you are not ready to adopt a dog.

doglover24   Oct 15th 2009 at 8:37PM eileen 08 , I am not agree v u coz I Hv a dog that smell very much. He was given ekanuba dog food and bath twice a week But he still smell a lot.

winsoncch   Oct 15th 2009 at 9:48PM Doglover24, I have a dog who used to have a bad smell. At last we found out that it is because he has ear infection. After we treated his ear problem, he no longer has bad smell. Maybe you should check on your dog's ears.

MelissaK   Oct 15th 2009 at 11:39PM doglover24 - FYI, Eukanuba is poor quality food (contains too much grain which some dogs reactly badly to). My boyfriend's dog which came from a breeder who fed him Eukanuba shed a lot and had terrible breath, he no longer had those issues once he was put on premium dog food (Addiction and Innova). Your dog may have been allergic to something in his food which may have caused the bad smell.

Decent to excellent quality brands I've seen in Malaysian pet stores are Acana, Addiction, Avoderm, By Nature, Canidae, California Natural, Dick van Patten's Natural Balance, Innova, Orijen, Solid Gold. I feed my dogs Orijen (kibble) + Addiction and Innova (wet food). Bear in mind that what suits one dog may not suit another, even though the quality of ingredients are good. Some dogs are allergic to certain kinds of meat (e.g. one dog can eat chicken but another dog cannot), some dogs do well on a high protein diet (like mine), some dogs don't need that much protein (too much can also cause shedding), some dogs digest grain well but some react badly (my dog sheds like mad when there's a lot of grain in his food, but some dogs are fine with it). Most important thing is to watch out for signs of food allergy in your dog. If you see constant scratching, always chewing paws, excessive fur shedding, bad breath, runny and smelly poop and already ruled out disease, those might be signs your dog's food isn't suitable.
