Bear's Story:
Someone found my contact no. from my previous rescue posting, contacted me and pleaded for me to help this abandoned dog (Bear) near where she's staying. She being very young (just finished SPM) and Muslim, she didn't know how to handle the dog but she was kind enough to try to find someone who could help. She suspected the dog has some injuries because he looked like he had problem walking and she really wanted to get the dog out of this situation, which seemed like the dog was abandoned when his family moved and the houses were demolished.
I posted this case on the Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage group's FB page and 2 wonderful ladies responded -- one of them offered to feed Bear and the other offered to foster him.
We met up one evening, caught him and sent him to the vet for checkup and neutering. He didn't have any major health issues, apart from his skin not being in good condition due to the poor living conditions he was in. With good food, proper care and clean living conditions, his skin issues will heal and his fur will grow back over time. He also had an undescended testicle, meaning his neuter surgery turned out to be similar to a spay surgery.
Bear is now at his foster home. He's much happier now that he's off the streets. My vet roughly estimates Bear to be about 8 years old. Not a young pup but a calm and stately gentleman. He will need some time to get used to you (just like any other animal) but once he's used to you, he's friendly. He seems to get along with other dogs (his foster mum has a shihpoo).
With lots of TLC and care, I believe Bear will still have some years left to spend with someone who wants an adult dog companion, without having to deal with the mess puppies can make. And I really have to thank the people who stepped up to help Bear. It's people like these who give me some hope in humanity.
Serious adopters only. Bear is currently located in Kepong. I recommend potential adopters to visit him before making a decision. Kindly contact me at (SMS or whatsapp) if interested.
Please share to help Bear find his forever home!
