Bowie is about 1+, is a Golden Retriever down-line. He belonged to a neighbor. They let him run out often until in July 2015 he was nearly caught by dog catchers but escaped with broken hind legs. Bowie managed to drag himself home(as witnessed by another neighbour), but his ex-owner did not want to bring him to the vet, and just let him suffer until there were maggots in his wounds.
In the end, Bowie dragged himself out of the house, and we immediately sent him to the vet for surgery of his broken hind bones. We collected donations from the neighborhood for this surgery after which he was taken in by DVS (dept of vet service) on grounds of suffering caused through negligence by his ex-owner.
Bowie is very friendly towards humans and dogs, cheerful and very brave. During his injury he never whimpered a sound but suffered in silence. Once, he dragged himself on his belly into our garden just to ease himself, even though his hind legs were injured badly.
3 months after being with DVS, since Dec, he has been under our care and nurture, he is well and fit now. We are looking for adopters who would take interest in his welfare and care for him. As we have paid for vaccination and bought him food supplements for his speedy recovery, also covered the previous surgery bill that cost RM2k of which neighbours and friends have helped a lot with, so the RM200 neutering fees we hope the adopter can bear it.
You can drop by to see him. We live in Bdr Kinrara, Puchong.
Update: He was soon adopted by a very good owner who adores him, and vice versa. They liked each other a lot during their first meeting. Bowie has a happy ever after ending with his owner. I've visited him once at his new home, his master walks him every morning before work and every evening after work (his master's father walks him in the afternoon), he can jump and run a lot. He is a very very happy and lucky dog indeed.
Last update: We were informed that Bowie passed away yesterday on 12 Aug 2017 due to Pancreatitis, after being hospitalized a week before. He had a loving home for a good year and a half with his good master. RIP, Bowie.
