Adult GSD is available for adoption. He is already 4 yrs old and has been neutered. Below are the characteristics of the dog and his living conditions: -

1. Timid and doesn't bark at humans at all. Lousy guard dog.
2. Knows some basic commands.
3. Is scared to be touched under the neck and paws due to lousy training previously.
4. Love walks and human companion
5. Is not good with male dogs.
6. Is currently on raw feeding.

Due to his bad past, I am setting some terms and conditions for the adoption of this boy. Terms and conditions are as stated below:-

1. Has to be adopted to Penang/KL/PJ only.
2. Must be sent for at least a basic obedience class by a trainer nominated by me.
3. Has to be walked/run daily to strengthen his legs and posture.
4. Must be kept as a companion dog and part of the family and not be treated as a guard dog only.
5. If possible he is to remain on raw food if not high quality kibbles only (he doesn't do well with kibbles).
6. Adopter must be willing to work with his behavior issues with proper training from a trainer nominated by me.
7. Adopters must not have any male dogs in at home.
8. An adoption fee of RM300 will be needed to cover his medical expenses during his stay with me.

Since you set so many conditions on potential adopters i suggest you train that dog properly first before putting up for adoption otherwise i think it's best you keep that dog yourself.

Well Shanti, if somebody really want to adopt the dog, these conditions set are really immaterial. JScott is only concern about the future welfare of Vern.Rescuers if possible have to ensure that dog adopted are for the right reason.

agree with smfan. setting up terms and condition could actualy let ppl get to understant the needs of vern. so that he wont be kicking here and there just because of his behavior, and it's all caused by human.....

Hello all,

Shanti: Like i said , this dog isn't mine, I am just helping the rescuer put this dog up for adoption. The T&C's are set by the rescuer and this dog is not located in PENANG, he is in Petaling Jaya.

SMFan & Jennifer84: Yes i totally agree with both of you

Something I posted in the forum...

Hi all,

I had just recently posted a topic on doggone lovin' but I guessed it did not passed the mod's censorship. Since this is a place to hang out and most of the ppl I wanted to address is here, might as well I write my 2 cents worth.

I am at awe, flabbergasted, painfully anguished by the sick and phychopathic terms and conditions some fosterer/rescuer has set in order for successful adoption.

Please. You are not only the chaps on the planet that love dogs. The things you write may show you care but please do not underestimate the potential love the new owner can shower on the 4-legged creature!

Some INSIST on house visit at ANYTIME. Please. It's my abode and it's my pet after it's being adopted. You have the right to ask for a visit BUT you cannot demand! It's my habitat and the pet is alreay mine, YOU BLOODY well ASK before you choose to tresspass!

Some INSIST that the dogs cannot be put onto guard duty. What sort of nonsense is this? It is not the innate nature of the dog to serve and protect their masters? What the heck is wrong with you?

Some INSIST that dogs be put through obedience school of their choosing. What is wrong with you - if I am happy how the dog behaves, on what grounds you have to insist upon?

I am going to avoid those fosterers who have been making the outrageous and superduper high-handed terms. If you are dictating those terms, why the heck are you giving them out in the first place - unable to pass your 516 levels of idiosyncratic conditions you set yourself in the first? This is hypocrisy rearing it's ugly head.

I have been handling dogs for at least 12 years and I have not come across such arrogant terms. If it is a win-win situation for both the owner and the pet, you have nothing else to say. It's the lethal injection OR an owner who makes the dog work but feeds and provide a home for it. Go figure that out.

I agree with you Funk. Some of the terms and conditions are just insulting to the new owners. That's why i commented earlier that if the fosterer was so worry about the new owner unable to take good care of the dog, then the best option is for the fosterer to continue fostering the dog until he dies. JScott, i am not refering to you since you mentioned that the terms were set by your friend.

EMMM.. no offence.. funk just wanna know had u rescue any pet before? i understant that some ppl do not like ppl to disturb after they adopt the pet... and from the post they do sounds a bit over... just like when u adopt a pet from SPCA,they set terms and condition.
Rescuer do let adopter know what is the terms and condition when they interview the potental adopter before they let u bring the pet home... if the adopter cant co-op with the terms, they can always get another pet from another rescuer... we as a rescuer do not wants to see any pet that we rescued end up on street again. and thay's why whe set up terms...
i'm sorry if my words offenced you... but it's just my point of view...:)

Yes, I have rescued pets before and kept them as my own. Why not I volunteer one more fact for you, I had to use potassium chloride on many occasions that I can still "smell" it on my fingers.

What IS the risk anyway? That the new owners might not want them any more?

Fosterer must understand that IS the risk that they have to take by giving it to the new owner.

Like I said, it is the INJECTION END GAME or POSSIBILITY OF A GOOD HOME. You choose.

I am sorry about my tone but I will not apologise to those who impose crap condiions. Oh BTW, is there a binding contract to ensure specfic performance for visitations, schooling and guard duty????

Utter nonsense!
