23 November 2013 update: Mongoo has been adopted by Mrs Hooi of PJ.
Mongoo was found on the streets on 2 November 2013 but to date, no one has claimed him (17 days listed in petfinder.my's lost & found section) and he's believed to be dumped so he's now up for adoption.
- He has been scanned for microchip but has none in him.
- He has been applied with the monthly Revolution spot-on to protect against ticks/fleas/ear mites/heartworms/intestinal worms.
- He has been provided with professional basic grooming at a pet shop.
- He has had a full blood test on 14 November 2013 at a total cost of RM205 and neutered on 15 November 2013 at a cost of RM180. He will be vaccinated two weeks after neutering.
- The blood test results were normal and the good news is that he's heartworm-free.
- His weight as of 15 November 2013 is 6.20kg and the vet recommend that his weight is maintained.
- Please note that he can bark loudly but only when encountering strangers at home so he's a good watchdog.
- He has a bad tartar problem so I'm only feeding him with dry kibbles. However, he's quite a fussy eater so I'm feeding him with a German-brand premium dog food which he loves due to the kibbles' small size and fragrance.
- He currently has a separation anxiety problem and phobia of rain/thunder which is likely due to his bad experience of being dumped during a rainstorm but he's still confident because he will bark at strangers and will stand up to bigger bully dogs.
Main adoption conditions are:
1) The adopter must be a Malaysian. Our preference is for an adopter in the Klang Valley for logistical reasons.
2) The adopter must be active on Facebook so that we can get pictorial updates on him and forgo the need for house visits to check on him.
3) The adopter must exercise Mongoo by taking him out for walks and toileting twice a day.
4) The adopter must be financially willing to provide for a high-maintenance dog especially premium food and regular grooming. The adopter must provide the basic preventive dog care such as the yearly vaccination and monthly spot-on application (Revolution is recommended) to prevent ticks/fleas/heartworms.
5) The dog must be fed with proper premium dog dry food and no wet food or food scraps. Dry kibbles help 'brush' his teeth and and premium dog food will maintain his good fur condition.
6) Mongoo must be kept indoors due to his small size. He has the tendency to squeeze through grill doors and gate openings so the adopter's home must be securely fenced up to prevent a small dog like Mongoo from running outside.
8) The adoption fee of RM350 must be paid in full as it covers the costs of his neutering and blood test. The adoption fee would be donated to help the next needy furkid.
9) Adopt from location at Sunsuria Avenue, Kota Damansara.
If you're interested to adopt Mongoo, please sent a message (via petfinder.my) and please tell me about yourself especially your dog ownership experience but do expect an interview by e-mail. Any juvenile-type e-mails without providing the necessary details (ie tell me about yourself, your place and dog ownership experience) required will be not be replied. Please don't just provide a phone number because I won't call and prefer to correspond by e-mail first. Thanks.
