28.10.2013 - I would like to thank the donor(s) and Petfinder team for the great help and donations. As mentioned, Hercules has been adopted and I've uploaded a photo taken by his new owner. His wound is recovering fast and he has a big appetite!
I found this cat with injuries on his hind leg at my apartment on 13 October 2013.
He looked frightened and the way he meowed sounds like hoping someone to help him. I planned to bring him to vet the next day as it was Sunday and most of the vets have closed. When I rushed back from work the next day, he was found lying lifeless on the same spot. He never eaten the kibbles nor drank the water I left there earlier.
Vet first advised that the hind leg need to be amputated. I initially planned to release him after recovered, but vet advised that a cat with 3 legs can barely survive as he might be bullied by other cats when fighting for food. On the surgery day, the vet managed to save his leg by only removed 3 toes as the bone of the front toe has already exposed.
On the same day I sent the cat to the vet, I've posted on Facebook to seek for adopter. I managed to got him adopted and he is now being taken care by his new owner. His wound need to be cleaned daily and will take 1-2 months time to heal.
I've settled the bill amounted to RM458. I wish if the bill could be partly subsidized through donations on Petfinder if possible. This is my first rescue and I hope I could save more unfortunate strays in the future.
I've first named the cat Hercules as I wanted him to be stronger.
Thanks so much.
