22 October 2020 sad update: his adopter has shared that TaiTai has passed away. Run free and we shall meet again at Rainbow Bridge!
31 August 2013 update: Tai has been adopted by Foo of Subang Jaya. : )
Tai was found on the streets on 30 May 2013 but to date, no one has claimed him and he's believed to be dumped so he's now up for adoption.
- He has been scanned for microchip but has none in him.
- He has been applied with the monthly Revolution spot-on to protect against ticks/fleas/ear mites/heartworms/intestinal worms.
- He has been full-groomed at a pet shop and now, looks like a lion, hence his foster name.
- He has been vaccinated on 6 June & 13 July 2013 at a total cost of RM120 and neutered on 21 June 2013 at a cost of RM280.
- His weight as of 21 June 2013 is 7.20kg and the vet recommend that he gains another 0.5kg.
- Other than blocked tear ducts which is common for Pekingese dogs and easily remedied, Tai has been given a clean bill of health according to the vet.
- He's friendly, confident, dominant and playful especially with other dogs yet still timid with humans which could be due to his bad experience of being dumped.
- Please note that he can bark loudly but only when encountering strangers at home so he's a good watchdog.
Main adoption conditions are:
1) The adopter must be a Malaysian. Our preference is for an adopter in the Klang Valley for logistical reasons.
2) The adopter must be active on Facebook so that we can get pictorial updates on him and forgo the need for house visits to check on him.
3) The adopter must exercise Tai by taking him for walks and toileting twice a day.
4) The adopter must provide the basic preventive dog care such as the yearly vaccination and monthly spot-on application (Revolution is recommended) to prevent ticks/fleas/heartworms.
5) The adopter must be financially willing to provide for a high-maintenance dog especially regular grooming.
6) The adopter should understand about Pekingese' temperament, peculiarities, etc so that you will know how to properly care for him. Although he's a Pekingese mix, the webpage on the breed perfectly describes Tai:
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pekingese.htm7) Tai can be kept indoors and outdoors (only if he has another dog for company) but he absolutely hates being caged or tied up. Due to his small size, he has the tendency to squeeze through grill doors and gate openings so the adopter's home must be securely fenced up to prevent a small dog like Tai from running outside.
8) The adoption fee of RM400 must be paid in full as it covers his neutering and vaccination. The adoption fee would go back into my rescue fund to help the next needy furkid.
9) Adopt from location at Sunsuria Avenue, Kota Damansara.
If you're interested to adopt Tai, please sent a message (via petfinder.my) and please tell me about yourself especially your dog ownership experience but do expect an interview by e-mail. Any juvenile-type e-mails without providing the necessary details required will be not be entertained. Please don't just provide a phone number because I won't call and prefer to correspond by e-mail first. Thanks.
