30 May 2013 update: Phoebe of KL has decided to permanently adopt Toby after a trial period.
Toby has went through two owners (initial adoption was NOT through me) but is now under my custody after he ran away from the second owner and was found by a student rescuer who eventually surrendered him to me after I provided the necessary proof that I knew Toby. The past owners have gave their consents to allow Toby to be fostered by me while I search for a new adopter. Toby is a purebreed registered with MKA and has a microchip.
Unfortunately, during the check-up by the vet, they found that Toby has a host of health problems:
1) tick fever
2) prostate enlargement problem
3) yeast infection under his front paws
4) urinary crystals
5) heartworms
6) kidney problem
Currently, I'm working with the best vets to address his health problems.
Outwardly, he's a lovable dog with a great temperament, in fact he was originally meant to be a therapy dog for an elderly mother but sadly, he's unwell on the inside due to the past owners' lack of knowledge on basic preventive care.
The main adoption conditions are:
1) The adopter should be active on Facebook so that we can get pictorial updates on Toby and forgo the need for house visits to check on him.
2) The adopter must exercise Toby by taking him for walks twice a day.
3) The adopter must commit to nurse him back to health.
4) The adopter must provide the basic preventive dog care such as the yearly vaccination and monthly spot-on application (Revolution is recommended) to prevent ticks/fleas/heartworms.
5) The adopter should be knowledgeable about beagles' characteristics, peculiarities, etc so that you will know how to properly care for him.
6) Part of the adoption fee would be used to buy a tag with the adopter's handphone number and Toby's new name to be attached to his collar which must be worn at all times.
7) I'm looking for an adopter who will treat Toby as part of their family, not a trophy dog despite his pedigree status with MKA certification. He would be great for a family with children, stay at home adults and elderly parents because his temperament is extremely good as he was originally a therapy dog for an elderly mother of the original owner. I also wouldn't want the adopter to delegate the care of Toby to a maid because that would defeat the purpose of a family dog especially more so with his special needs.
If you're interested to adopt him, please sent a message (via petfinder.my) and please tell me about yourself especially your dog ownership experience but do expect an interview by e-mail. I will not reply to any juvenile e-mails and breeders need NOT apply. Thank you for adopting, not buying.
