Demetri was found outside of my door one day and had an injury on his back right foot. However, I already had 3 grown cats and was unable to adopt him, so I've asked my friend to foster Demetri and take him to the vet as he was a stray and before I bring foreign cats into my house, they had to be checked for any virus or fleas. I didn't know his paw was injured badly and thought it was a mild sprain so I can take him to the Vet when my salary is out as I was short of cash, I didn't apply for any funds because I am required to pay first but I could not afford it.
After a week, the fosterer's mother saw that Demetri's paw was bleeding and rushed the kitten to my usual vet and found out that it was badly infected which if it does not get better, it has to be amputated.
Luckily, we managed to care for his wound and by that time I got my salary and took him to another round of checkup, a week later. His wound healed therefore no amputation is needed. However when Demetri reaches the right age, he has to undergo surgery. Demetri has Cryptorchidism. This changed my mind from preparing Demetri to be adopted to adopting him myself, as Russian Blues have very unique personality, they tend to choose their owner and is very emotional. Furthermore, the fosterer was unable to care the kitten as he had to balance his work and studies.
I suspect this kitten was dumped in the streets as he was a pure breed russian blue and had the silver-blue coat with dark green shades on his lime green eyes; I did my studies on Russian Blues. Plus, I know my community cats and there are no russian breeds around.
