You good people, rescuers, fosterers and adopters are very kind trying to save strays or feral dogs/puppies. Do you know that you may endanger yourself and others? Do you know where they had been to or eaten? They could have been in the drains, garbage dumps or going through garbage outside someone's house looking for food. They could have eaten rotten food scraps, dead animals, dead rats, human feaces etc. From this they could be contaminated with diseases. Diseaes related to dogs like tularemia, not related to dogs like cholera, not so common diseases like leptospirosis, diseases not yet discovered until someone died like nipah virus, some jump the species gap like bird flu or disease yet to jump the species gap. Treat all stray or feral animals as toxic waste. If you want to come in contact with these animals it is better to wear safety goggles, face mask, smock and gloves. Then have their blood tested to screen for diseases but this is no guarantee as some diseases are yet to be discovered. Actually it is better to let them be. Nature will take care of the rest and you and people you love safe. Good luck.

Will, you can ignore human beings who bark up the wrong tree. Petfinder is a sort of crusader for rescue dogs and cats.

And those who advocate that it is unnatural to rescue strays may very well seek or set up their own website or forum to champion their ideas. If they think leaving strays to be strays is natural, they may very soon campaign that dogs should not be kept as pets because their original natural habitat is in the wild!
