Update 20/12/11 :
Poppy's healing progress has began to show good signs according to latest x-ray and the pins will be removed in 2 weeks' time.
Update 10/12/11 :
Poppy is starting to use her leg little by little since last week and hopefully she can heal completely and smoothly. She is still staying at the clinic during recovery. She would be fine soon and can be rehomed after that.
Anyone interested to adopt her ? Pls contact me.
Update 28/10/11 :
Surgery was done yday night and vet spent abt 5 hours as a lot of bone callus has formed ard the fractures. Pin has been inserted into the bone, bone grafting from other bones to help healing of the fracture areas and also external fixations in order to stabilise and prevent the fractures from rotating sideways. Poppy is now boarding at the clinic.
Now let's hope n pray for her successful n speedy recovery of the bones union.
Update 4/10/11 :
Poppy was vaccinated n dewormed on 3/10/11 as to strengthen her body. Also the part where the steel pin was protruding out earlier is swollen n after taking sample of the fluid, vet has diagnosed n it is irritation, n will subside.
Surgery date has been fixed on 27/10/11 as Poppy need to have at least 2 weeks gap after vaccination.
Latest update 27/9/11 :
Steel pin inserted into Poppy's hip was seen protruding out last weekend and I have brought Poppy to Puchong vet.
The cause for concern was signs of hemorrhagging in the abdomen area and one tip of the pin had migrated from its original position and was almost piercing through the skin of Poppy's abdomen. Also of concern was Poppy's non-use of her treated hindleg since the 1st operation.
Vet removed the pin immediately as it was already almost breaking the skin as it had migrated and did an x-ray after that. The x-ray showed that Poppy's femur fracture had failed to unite. Vet advised that a pin had to be put in (as with the first surgery) but also need external fixation (additional pins) to further ensure that the fracture is stabilized and does not rotate and aids bone union.
Since some time has passed since the injury, vet may also have to do some bone grafting, probably from the hip if needed. Operation should be done asap as the fracture now has no stabilization as there is no pin and time has elapsed since the injury. This will take 2-3 mths of recuperation. Fracture bones may grow apart if prolonged and lower the chance of healing/union of the fractures.
I'm appealing now to u again to please HELP Poppy. Since PetFinder only allow RM500 max for each rescuer's case, we can only appeal for RM250 as RM250 has been used for Poppy's 1st surgery in July. If u wish to donate more for Poppy, u can bank into Maybank-0373 (JOANNE LIM TENG TENG) n text me to confirm the receipt of ur donation.
Thanks.

Poppy, a nursing mother dog of 7 puppies abt 5 wks old now at my workplace (Batu 7 1/2, Jln Kapar, Klang).
She was missing since Thursday (28/7/11) as she would come to me everyday during lunch time when I feed the strays here.
I went searching for her on Friday evening, as she has not showed up for 2 days and not feeding her puppies. She was found under a dark and very end corner under the pedestrian bridge across the main Jalan Kapar road. She was limping with her right hind leg. She has bruises n wounds all over her head, chest n stomach area. And looked very weak. I suspect she was hit by vehicle n was not able to cross the road again to go back to the factory, n hide under the pedestrian crossing for 2 days, waiting for some1 to find her.
Then Poppy was brought in to Thomas Clinic, Taman Gembira, Klang. Vet said that it is a hip bone fracture n suggested inserting a plate or pin depends on the X Ray result. X Ray was taken soon after that n it showed the hip bone fracture and a pin has to be inserted to let the bones grow n join back together. Recovering will take 3 months. For the 1st month, Poppy must be tied/confined but she does not need any special care according to the vet.
Since Poppy is very weak, she has been boarding in the clinic (Thomas clinic) since last Friday. She has been on medication since Monday as her heartbeat was low and vet could not perform the surgery yet.
Cost of surgery would be RM400-600 depends on the condition after opening up or difficulty of the surgery. Not including bloodwork, x-ray costs, medication which are given to her currently to strengthen her heart n condition. So now I appeal to you to help Poppy to have a chance to lead a normal life to walk and run like other dogs, and to be reunited with her puppies again.
Poppy's plight has also been published at AnimalCare's blog:

Poppy has regained her strength and operation was done successful. She will be discharged once she is fit.
************************************************
Poppy has been discharged by vet last Saturday and now in the factory, confined in a temporary cage made from scrap/unwanted materials/carton box.
She will need to remove the stitches after 10 days. According to vet, if the steel pin does not show physically (protruding out of the hip bone), then there is no need to remove it later on. Poppy should be confined n not allowed a lot of walking/movements for the 1st month. Since Saturday, Poppy can now use her same hip/leg a little, like scratching herself and walk a little using 4 legs. Most of the time, she still hops with 3 legs for now while in the cage.
Anyway, out of goodwill of the vet, the total bill charged was RM500.00. Since Poppy is under independent rescuer case, therefore Petfinder will reimburse 50% of the total bill which is RM250.00. Extra funds collected for Poppy will be distributed to upcoming medical cases.
Thanks again to everyone who has donated and PetFinder for setting up this channel to help animals in need.
