We rescued a brown male dog that was in a hit and run case by a car along Jalan Ipoh. He is currently undergoing treatment at the vet to stabilize his condition and will be going for his surgery next week due to his serious case of hip dysplasia from the impact of the accident. We are Appealing for URGENT FUNDS to help this dog so that he can walk on all four legs again. After the surgery, we will also need the help of a kind fosterer to help him recuperate until he fully recovers and can be rehomed.

4th July @ 2am :
As Nicholas and Junnie were returning from their journey home at 2am along Jalan Ipoh, they saw a dog being hit by a car. Bravely enough, they carried the dog (despite the dog being injured and could have bitten them) into their car and quickly took him to Animal Medical Centre in Jalan Tun Razak. Vet at AMC suspected some broken legs as he was unable to stand. They took a blood test, have him bandaged up as he was wounded on all legs and they couldn’t determine which leg was broken until an x-ray was done and put on IV drips to stabilize him for the night. Blood test results shows his liver producing higher amount of enzyme due to the accident. Brownie stayed at AMC for 2 nights as he was in shocked and it was advisable to have him on drips to stabilize his condition.

6th July :
I took Brownie out the following morning and settled the remaining balance.The emergency hospitalization at Animal Medical Centre cost us a huge bomb at RM610!!

Brownie was transferred to Sacred Heart Veterinary Clinic the following morning. He looks like he belongs to someone as he was clean and had no ticks and was very calm and estimated to be around 2 years old. We were glad he was looking better and able to stand but only on 3 legs. Dr.Yap presume that the left hind leg without bandage is the actual broken leg. (As you can see from the picture he is standing firmly with the 3 legs and that he’s left hind leg is lifted in the air. He is standing with hind legs close together to compensate for hip dysplasia.) However, only an X-ray can confirm. Brownie seems to be a very well obedient dog and “manly” as he did not whine or struggle while Dr.Yap examined him and his broken leg. He is now off-drips after the second day with Dr.Yap as he is eating on his own now and have regain much strength.

His x-ray results shows that he has hip dysplasia due to the impact of the accident and he will survive whether or not a surgery is done. According to the vet:

1) - Without the surgery, he will be in possible pain and forever limping and only be able to walk with 3 legs and will never be able to use his left hind legs anymore which in the long run, he will lose his thigh muscles in that leg. He will have lower or possibly no chance of being able to find a new home nor stay to keep up in a dog sanctuary.

2) -With the surgery, he will regain the ability to use all 4 legs again and will not be in any possible pain. He will have higher chance of getting rehomed. However, cost of surgery is high and estimated to be from RM 800- RM 1,000.

After a week of monitoring Brownie at the vet, the vet has suggested for continuous monitoring of Brownie's condition for his hind legs while waiting for his deep wounds to recover.

A breakdown of the vet's bill includes x-ray, heartworm test and 7 days boarding for RM200.

The current vet bill totals RM810!! (even before the surgery!)

As the cost is too high, we had no choice but to discharge Brownie and try to provide injury rehabilitation and therapy to help him.

We do want to give this poor dog a chance to lead a normal life to walk and run on all fours again. I would like to Appeal for URGENT FUNDS to help with Brownie’s medical fees and possible operation as the cost of the medical fees is very high. We hope kind donors can give a helping hand by contributing and together we can give this poor young dog a chance to live a normal life. Please pass the message around so we can source for more funds for his medical surgery.

Please help us help him so he can live a happy and normal life. Brownie is such a lovely and gentle dog and he definitely deserves a second chance and a better home!
