Introducing Raksha:

Female kitten, 4 - 5 weeks old, has brown "ticked" fur, a bobbed tail and blue/milky eyes (temporary due to young age).

Raksha was found meowing in a drain by a federal highway two days back. She was rescued immediately, but showed signs of feral/fierce behavior.

As of today, she is no longer "hissing" or "growling", and is finally allowing gentle handling by her humans.

Raksha loves to eat, and meows loudly if left alone for too long. Raksha also adores play-time! She especially loves string toys and roller-balls, and will prance and hop around whenever taunted by her people :)

Additional details:

Raksha's current diet is Royal Canin Babycat 34. She has been de-wormed and de-fleaded (is still too young to be vaccinated).

Please call or drop me an e-mail if interested. Details on your past experience with cats (particularly young kittens) will be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Sphinxlover:

She was screaming/calling out at the top of her lungs when we discovered her. We even waited for about half an hour to see if her mama or any other kittens would show up, but nothing happened. And the road-way at the time was simply too busy for us to ignore her any longer. We got her out before any accidents were to happen.

And I agree with you :) she is just super adorable, and a fearless little lady at that!

Wanilliyana:

Thank you so very much. So many people seem interested in Raksha only because of her beautiful looks...not knowing of course that it takes so much more experience to care for a 4 weeks plus kitten. I really do hope that the right people or family will come by soon and take the darling home.

Missroses:

I've sent over the adoption form through e-mail as promised.
Also, on a personal note, I think it would be best if you could narrow down your interest to one particular kitten. In my opinion, it helps prove your sincerity or special interest towards one fur-kid, to other rescuers. This way, rescuers will feel more comfortable about handing over their foster kitts to you. Just a small advice :)

vee: ya i know.. i adopt 5weeks kitten a month ago..lots of ticks..after a week, got fungal pulak..now with ear mites..still in malaseb treatment twice a week.
she need lots of attention..not everyone can take care of a few weeks old kitten..
at least Raksha look bigger and healthier than my kecik.

having a kitten without a mom is a lot of work, i know. Good thing i had a mommy cat to help me with that. But i had to teach the kittens how to potty train cus mommy wasn't doing a good job. And behavior issues too. Had to pretend to be a cat and hiss at my kitten when she misbehaved. If the kitten is very rambunctious you'll have ur hands full. But as they grow older and see how sweet they are. It makes all the work worth it in the end. hahahah. Thats how it was for my kitten. She's sooo sweet now.

sphinxlover:

raksha's still with me. right now i'm trying to get her more used to human contact (crowds), and trying to teach her some normal cat behaviors. raksha's away from her mama now and has to learn from watching my other cats (she's still not very good at self-cleaning, digging etc.)

and she started purring yesterday for the first time, a real milestone if you ask me :) will wait till the right people come for her.

Hi! Vee 20, from my experience for a 4 wks old kitty, you need to either give a little massage on its stomach or use a damp cotton to rub its backside to aid her to do her business after a short while after her meals even to urinate(lightly massage her private part wth a damp cotton). Also after each meal use a mild warm cloth to wipe her face and paws. In this way she will grow up knowing how to clean herself after each meal.

You may also provide her with a cozy place to sleep, under a little lamp (avoid putting it too near her bedding otherwise it may be too hot for her)check it out frst before using on her.

All the best to your caring for Raksha.

onghongeng:

raksha's turning 6 weeks already, and is now quite clever with her litter habits. i did follow the procedures as per below :) though i wasn't aware of the bit about wiping her face and paws with damp clothing, will give it a try.

also, raksha sleeps with me at nights and i'm always taking extra care to keep her as warm as possible. she will be going for her first vaccine next week, and i'm sure that things will get better for her there on. thank you for the kind advice, appreciate it :)
