Nyssa was a mere baby when she was found to have fallen from height (from an unsecured apartment window or balcony), which resulted in a broken jaw and a fractured back leg. She had age on her side (younger cats have incredible ways of healing) and our vet team went all out to fix her jaw and her leg. After several months of recuperation, Nyssa has fully recovered and is your typical daredevil kitten -- playful, active, running and jumping everywhere with seemingly no recollection of her earlier trauma.

We must stress how crucial it is that your home be cat-proof and secure so that preventable accidents like this doesn't happen. We have lost a number of our rescues this way when adopters do not take heed of our advice to cat-proof their home. Letting them out onto an unsecured balcony with supervision does NOT deter a cat from jumping over the railing in a split second when a distraction (like a bird or insect) appears. 99 times out of 100 the cat doesn't jump, but it only takes that one time and usually that spells the end of the cat. Nyssa is extremely lucky that she managed to survive with fixable injuries. The cats we've lost this way have all died; the height was just too much for them to survive. Safety of the home is something that is non-negotiable for us and we are very strict on this.

Nyssa is now ready to go to her forever home! She's about 7 months old now and has been deflead, dewormed, fully vaccinated and spayed. She is also FIV and FeLV negative. She's super cuddly and affectionate, and gets along well with other cats (but following the proper integration process is a must). Nyssa is available to a home with an existing cat as she's super playful and still young enough that she needs to grow up with a cat friend for her social and mental well-being. Her ongoing care is simple oral hygiene comprising of a squirt of water in her mouth and application of an oral gel post-meal. She tolerates this very well and we will teach you how it's done.
