Chase was brought to the vet 4 weeks ago by a rescuer with severe tick infestation and a rusting chain tightly bound around his neck, close to causing a wound. He was suspected to be dumped by his previous owner from the way he was found and based on a local resident who has seen him around. Chase was found wandering on the streets with some strays but kept approaching humans for help, until he found his rescuer. He was itching and distressed as the ticks were inside his ear canals and on his ears. Upon arrival at the vet, he was given treatment for the tick infestation, checked for tick fever which turned out negative (phew!) and put on medication in anticipation for anemia from the ticks.
Fortunately Chase responded well during the treatment, remained his cheerful self and could be neutered. He was vaccinated after recovering from the neuter surgery as well. He has been the sweetest and friendliest dog cooperating with the vets and nurses as they cleaned him up from the dried blood and dead ticks left on his ears. He will quietly allow you to do any procedure on him as you give him reassurance and neck rubs.
Chase is very vocal and likes to "talk". We suspect he may be a cross with a Husky due to his sing-song howls when he asks for attention and pets! He is suitable to go to a home with a compound for him to run and exercise, and where his owners can give him ample of attention and love. He loves to play fetch.
Unfortunately, Chase only has another 2 weeks to find a home as the rescuer called up the vet and asked for him to be released back to the streets. He risks being attacked by other strays as he is docile and well mannered. If you wish to adopt Chase, do give him a chance and give me a call.
