My buddy Dusty still needs a loving furever home. He was briefly adopted but it didn't work out because he and the resident male cat couldn't get along. They fought and Dusty ended up with deep wounds and abscesses on one of his legs. Dusty would probably do better in a home where he's the only cat or the adopter is experienced in socializing and slowly introducing cats to each other.

Dusty hasn't had the best 2022 so far. I found him emaciated, crusted with mange, and with a nasty neck wound at the end of December last year. He had been abandoned in a spot where I take care of a colony of neutered stray cats. Terrified, he spent all day hiding in piles of trash. The tougher males in the area saw an easy target and bullied him relentlessly. Eventually, I managed to grab him, but not before he became fearful and defensive around other cats 🙁

He's had a long road to recovery; over 6 weeks hospitalized and several weeks of continued treatment at my home. He has allergies and needs hypoallergenic cat food. Allergies delayed the healing of his neck wound and this needs to be managed with a strict diet. Indoor living (not caged!) is preferred for Dusty to minimize his exposure to possible allergens.

Why don't I adopt Dusty when I obviously love him so much? I have several other cats and dogs (12!). Too many for Dusty to be comfortable with.

Dusty is neutered, vaccinated, and up to date on Advocate. FIV and FELV negative. He is a very vocal and affectionate cat. Loves cuddles and sitting on laps. DUSTY DOES NOT LIKE OTHER CATS.

Adoption fee helps cover his neutering and vaccinations expenses. I have paid much much more than that to get him to this healthy condition.
