Whiskey is a very affectionate and perky 8 years old English Cocker Spaniel. I am sad to give her away but I have no choice as I am going overseas in June for work.
Anyone who is interested can contact me at-7168.
PS : Whiskey has found her new mummy, Jeannie and "sisters" Nancy, Ruby and Mei Mei.
Hi Simon, how long will you be away overseas? If it is just temporary, maybe you can request some fosterers to temporarily take care of her while you are away.
Would be good if you can post more photos of Whiskey for potential adopters to see. I suggest that you carefully filter the enquiries to find a genuine dog lover that is prepared to take good care of her, preferably a family.
Hi Tiffany and Andy, Whiskey is 8 now. I will be overseas for about 3 to 4 years, or maybe longer. I actually thought of bringing her along but as I will be staying with others (most likely in an apartment) this would be impossible.
Your idea of a fosterer is good but may not be fair if it is for such a long term. Whiskey will really grow on you; she is so affectionate.
Yeap, a few people has already phoned in to show their interest in adopting her. I will be going over to their places to check out the environment before deciding. Man, I wish I don't have to give her up. She has been one heck of a girl. ... hmmmm... always like to snuggle beside me while I watch TV, and she's never a fuss. Anyway, I'll be going off in June, and I have delayed as long as I can. Don't want to do it last minute and end up not finding the right family and home for her.
hi...it is sad to hear tht u need to gave her up...if she got a cert maybe u can bring her ther...as i know cocker is very very tame so they can actually live in apartment if u really wan to gave up or looking for fosterer maybe u can consider me lar....i was looking for a second dog to play with my rocky....but it all depending on da dogs too whether they lik aech other or not....maybe we can arrange a time too mett up 1st to see if they get along....
There have been a lot of responses coming in. I have already met some of them and are considering the best daddy/mummy for Whiskey. I was so worry about not finding the right people. A big THANK YOU to Andy Koh for this website. I am so happy to know that there are so many dog lovers out there. I
Yes, Whiskey has very good temperament and actually I'm staying in a condo. She barely barks unless we are playing at home, HAHA. In fact, she helped to prevent 3 attempted break-ins when she woke me up because someone was trying to come in through the kitchen window. She is one FANTASTIC girl!
Yes, can you email me your address so that we can meet to see if Whiskey can get along with Rocky.
hi Simon, i noticed Whiskey is not spayed... i'm not sure if it's a good idea to spay her at 8yrs old... just a word of advice - pls be wary of some people who may sound n appear to love dogs very much n seem like a good potential adopter... there have been cases where a person tells all grandma stories abt how his dog died n want another dog, bla bla bla, so of coz the owner bought into his story n let this person adopt the dog... later it's found out the adopter uses the dog to breed n make a profit out of the puppies... not to scare u, but pls be extra careful in choosing a new home for Whiskey... there are many genuine adopters out there, u just need to find the right one... all the best! :)
Hi pugs, thanks for the advice. Yes, I'm also concerned about this which is why I'm visiting all potential adopters before deciding. Anyway, Whiskey is already too old to breed.
Hmm, I need to make a decision this weekend or else I might end up not giving her up until the very last day which is bad.
We also need to be well aware of the signs of stress in a whiskey. Lots of dogs can stress out from the move. Think about it, new sounds, new smells, new voices, new faces and absolutely everything is different. This can cause whiskey to become very scared.
Yeap, I agree with you on this. But Whiskey has stayed with friends quite a few times before and so far she has been OK. But these are close friends who visit often. I'll monitor the situation.
Hi Simon, glad that you have found some potential daddies and mummies for Whiskey. I can imagine how relieved you will be once you get this settled - since you are unable to bring her along, the best you can do is to find her a nice loving family to spend the rest of her life with.
Please do keep us posted on Whiskey, we're all very concerned of her well being.
Any who knows, she might meet exciting new doggy friends from her new family - Vodka, Bacardi, Brandy, Baileys and more! =)
Hi everyone, Whiskey has found her new mummy, Jeannie I'm sad to see her go but happy that she has found a new family. Kinda weird not to have her sitting behind me on the sofa while I'm working on my notebook. I guess when it comes to separation stress, it is on both sides.
I'm grateful for Whiskey's new mummy in offering to let Whiskey sleep besides the next few nights so that she will not be so stressed out. I know I found the right family for her now.
To all those families and individuals who have offer to adopt Whiskey, a big THANK YOU. You guys are all great, but sorry I can only choose one family.
A special THANK YOU to Andy as well. God has been kind to us in letting me give her up only after www.Petfinder.my came online.
Congratulations Simon, great to hear that Whiskey has found a home, with a nice mummy and even 3 doggy "sisters"!
Glad that PetFinder was of help to you. Hopefully you now feel more relieved with Whiskey properly rehomed and can concentrate on your relocation overseas.
Please keep us updated on how things go. I wish you and Whiskey all the best! =)
Thanks Andy, I will tell all my friends about this great website. The best thing is that I get to visit my girl-girl when I come back for holidays, thanks to her new mummy Jeannie.
