Hei Hei is an adorable 3 years old tuxedo cat. We rescued him as a kitten from a car park staircase where we found him abandoned in a skinny, weak state. Ever since he became our office cat. Receiving love from everyone in the office. We will return to the office even on weekends to play with him and feed him. Hei Hei loves to see us work and would jump on top of our laptops or kicking it close so we will play with him.
Fast forward to last year, MCO happened and due to financial reasons we had to close down our office. We brought him back home to live with us where he had another happy 1 year with us. My family loves him a lot and will play and talk to him everyday. Recently, he’s showing signs that he’s very afraid and stressed and started to become defensive aggressive. We took him to a vet to see if anything is wrong with him but he is perfectly healthy. The vet told us based on the way he behave in my house, there are too many male cats around my housing area that is causing him a lot of stress and discomfort. He is constantly alert and in fear as he feel the outdoor cats will come in anytime to attack him. The vet also said he is losing confidence as he feel his territory is threatened now so all he does is hide in my cupboard. We tried everything, pheromones, calming collar, more beds, even cat deterrents but the male cats kept coming back, clawing at my mom’s window at times.
With a heavy heart, as we cannot move to a high rise building so he can feel safe, we will have to find him a new home where he can feel safe and be loved. Hopefully you can give him a chance to feel safe again and be loved in a forever home.
Hei Hei is a shy and timid kitty when he first meet you but once he warms up to you, he will always greet you loudly, rub on your legs, and give you head bumps. He is always on the lookout for treats and knows how to sit and give you his hand when you are giving him treats. Other than that, he is very happy lounging around on his bed or cat tree and nap the day away. Also, he’s very chatty and have lots of quirky noises to tell you what he want.
High rise/Second storey home preferred. Landed property might cause this issue again if there are lots of strays around.
