Thomas was a sweet TNR (trap-neuter-return) cat who one day turned up with a big bite wound on his side. But unfortunately, the bite wound had been infected with sporo, a horrible fungal disease that manifests as open lesions and then eventually shuts down internal organs. Our teammate who was his feeder noticed this right away, and we were able to get him diagnosed and boarded at a vet where he immediately went on anti-fungal treatment.
Five months later, Thomas was officially declared sporo-free and now he's back with his rescuer, being fostered in her home! Thomas is really pleased to be out of isolation, but he still sometimes gets scared and hides under the bed. He can be a bit shy, but also incredibly affectionate with his trusted humans. He will definitely need some time to settle into a new home, but he bunts, and rubs up on legs, and is very affectionate.
Thomas has been defleaed, dewormed, vaccinated once and neutered. He is positive for FIV, and negative for FeLV. This just means that he has a compromised immune system, but he can co-exist with other cats in the same space as long as everyone is sterilized and integrated properly. He is currently rather overweight due to his lengthy isolation in a cage, and we are looking for a loving, responsible adopter who can commit to helping him lose the weight before it starts affecting his health. Weight loss can be achieved through strict measured diet of high quality, high protein/low carb wet food. We can guide you through this!
Thomas is available as a solo cat or to a home with another cat after proper integration.
