No, she doesn't - I've trained her (and still am) to not whine or bark, unless permitted. We don't allow useless barking/yapping and discourage noisy behaviour. She's catching on pretty well. As Sparky is still a pup, she barks a bit when she's playing ...eg. attack-bark at something, but not much at all. Very cute actually! She growled and barked a bit when she saw something in the dark (us, without the lights on) - this is a good thing, for a guard dog. We encourage her to recognize her owners, and distinguish between owner and strangers.
Denise, I had a Labrador once - she was gorgeous - she went to Doggy Heaven, 2 years ago, but I still miss her very much! You must read up on the types of illness that can kill a pup/dog, eg. distemper, so that you are aware of the symptoms and what to do. You must also guard your dog against heartworm - this is transmitted by mosquitoes, the carrier - by giving her HeartGuard (tablet) once a month. Regular deworming is also good.
